Inflatable E-sup board with removable electric motor combines the advantages of a classic board and the convenience of using an electric motor.
A feature of the E-sup is a detachable electric motor, which allows you to significantly increase the speed and distance of movement.
Goal
The goal of the project was to create a SUP board with a motor and a speed control panel on the oar. In this project, it was important to ensure the comfort of using the board both with and without a motor.
The development of CMF also played an important role in the design of the SUP board. Based on the links provided by the customer and the previously developed e-boat catamarans, the design vector was set for a bright SUP board that stands out from competitors.
Research
SUP is an inflatable board for recreation on the water. Such boards are often used for tourist trips along water routes.
Riding a SUP board is a fun and exciting activity that is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. SUP boards allow you to explore new places and enjoy the beauty of nature.
There are several types of SUP boards. Tourist – for walking on the water, surf – for riding on the waves, racing – for competitions for speed and endurance and universal – for different recreation conditions.
We have chosen a universal shape that is very stable and suitable for smooth movement on the water and for riding on small waves.
We studied the information about the features and details of SUP boards. One of the key features is the inflatability that makes it easy to transport and store.
Stabilization elements are important for ensuring stability on the water. Some models may include additional features such as load securing systems or folding seats.
A visit to the SUP board store gave an understanding of the details and materials used.
Concept development
An electric SUP board consists of two main components: a motor and an inflatable board.
It is important that the board looks attractive and remains functional regardless of whether the motor is connected to it or not.
Two concepts have been developed, differing in the way the motor is attached to the SUP board.
The first option involves installing the motor in a hole that can be closed with a transparent insert or an air cushion if there is no need to use the engine.
The second option involves installing the engine as a tail component. The client chose this option for further elaboration.
We developed color options based on SUP board design trends and the wishes of the customer.
The client was attracted by three areas of CMF: wood texture; A minimalistic but bright solution and monochrome. For this reason, we have offered a universal design of the board, which can be made in various colors.
Design development
Clarification of the dimensions of the SUP board and distribution of all parts and elements.
Development of engine design. The upper surface of the engine was covered with a soft pad, like on the E-sup, to make it more comfortable for the user to stand on it. We placed an indication of the engine charge level on the body.
The customer suggested using an ODM motor and enclosing the rotor inside the housing. Developing a design solution and adding a compartment at the top of the case for storing small important things.
Controller Design
Development of a concept for the design of the engine control panel, which can be attached to most oars.
CMF development and graphics
E-sup is the second project developed for Togoboat. Previously, we have already collaborated and developed the E-boat project.
We develop options for colors, materials and finishes that combine style and uniqueness, while being combined with the previously developed catamaran.
E-sup is divided into modules, for which several color combinations are selected. Thanks to the modular system, there is no need to change the shape of the soft pads on the board to add a new color scheme.
Currently, the project is at the prototyping stage. Soon it will move to crowdfunding.

Customer feedback
“In 2022, we collaborated with Rodion Usaev on a project to develop the conceptual design and ergonomics of an innovative electric SUP board. As before, Rodion helped us achieve the perfect result by determining not only the overall shape and color, but also the details, materials and finishes of the board, paddle and engine. We are satisfied with both the quality of the results and the speed and flexibility with which the process was built.”
