Ambient Kitchen is an IED diploma project for Italian premium kitchen brand Schiffini.

The aim of the project was to shift the focus from the inside of the house to the outside and design a very comfortable, aesthetically pleasing and multifunctional outdoor kitchen that enhances the quality of the modern lifestyle and is in line with the brand values.

Together, we decided to focus on a kitchen that fulfills not only the need to cook and eat, but also the desire to have a great time and socialize with friends and family.

Company

Schiffini Cucine was founded in 1925. It is one of the top 10 Italian kitchen brands.  
 
They are characterized by the quality, innovative solutions and refined elegance of their products. Their high-end kitchens are generally used in large and functional spaces, with an increased focus on sustainability, materials and design.

Place of use and target audience

These kitchens are popular with individuals and families who value quality and design, and can afford it.
 
For them, a summer kitchen will be a place that will turn the process of cooking and eating into something more, will give relaxation and pleasant pastime in the fresh air, surrounded by loved ones.

A terrace kitchen does not have only one location. It can be used on the terrace of a house, on rooftops, on large balconies, by the pool or anywhere else where there is enough space, fresh air and sunshine.

Eating outside the home 

Indoor kitchens are designed primarily for cooking and satisfying one's food needs.
 
While outdoor kitchens are utilized to enjoy a pleasant time outdoors with loved ones.  
It's more a matter of wants than needs.

At the same time, most street kitchens serve as tools for food preparation. Their creators do not take into account that people use such kitchens for special events and socializing while cooking and eating.

Conceptual design

The Ambience kitchen reflects elegance and minimalism in its design. Thanks to high quality and durable materials, this kitchen will last a long time.
You'll be able to cook comfortably with it, and the simplicity of the design won't detract from the beautiful view.

The island format encourages cooking together, and the perimeter drawers open on all sides.
This way, everyone at the kitchen can participate in the cooking process.

The dish shelf is attached to the kitchen. It can be used to carry dishes from the house to the terrace and vice versa. And all this without any rush.

The kitchen includes a retractable turntable that makes it not only a cooking center, but also an epicenter for entertaining.

Movable coffee tables with convenient storage are built into the kitchen and are easily removable front and back.

If necessary, they can be removed from the kitchen and set aside so people can put food and drinks on them and sit comfortably next to them without crowding around them.

In addition, retractable tables have a couple of interesting features - they have poufs inside that can be removed to sit comfortably next to the tables and, for a more daring option, you can purchase a specialty version of the table with a small hearth.

A recessed light fixture can help create a special atmosphere when it gets darker outside.

The compact and more affordable version of the kitchen will suit people with limited outdoor space. While the larger version uses Corian Super Black for the kitchen worktop, the compact version uses Fixrete cement coating.
