The RBC Life website published an article “What’s wrong with the design of the iPhone 17: a crisis of ideas or a deliberate move”, in which I commented on criticism of the design of Apple’s new lineup.
In recent years, the industrial design of the iPhone has moved away from the company’s key focus: “10-15 years ago, every new iPhone was a cultural event: a new direction of development was set. Today, most of the updates are all about the details – a new camera module, a material or color, minor changes to the shapes.”
Such a focus on the interface instead of design is perceived by users as a stagnation and a crisis of ideas, in contrast to the era of Jony Ive, when each smartphone set new industry standards.
